Abstract
Background and Aim: Now, the types of Natural and man-made emergencies and disasters are increasing
worldwide, so risk communication is more tangible. Media such as communication way has a prominent role in
disaster risk reduction. Planning and designing a roadmap in this field can facilitate and promote efficient risk
communication at a particular time.
Methods: The study was conducted with a qualitative approach. Iranian media and emergency management
experts were the research community. 11 experts were selected by the purposive sampling method. Data were
collected by holding expert meetings in 10 two-hour sessions. The data were analyzed using the guided content
analysis method.
Results: In this research, the management strategies of mass media in emergencies and disasters until 1404
were extracted. Eleven strategies were identified and priority actions were determined for each of the formulated
strategies. The extracted strategies were mainly in the field of creating media management infrastructures in
emergencies and disasters.
Conclusion: In this research, the roadmap of the media in managing the risk of emergencies and disasters in
Iran has been compiled. This framework focuses on priority strategies and programs needed by the media in
multiple stages of the risk management cycle of emergencies and disasters, including prevention and mitigation,
preparedness, response, and recovery.
